India has had a flawless tournament thus far. After breezing past the league-stage where they beat Afghanistan [by 74 runs], Oman [by six-wickets] and the team that they’ll square off against in the finals- Sri Lanka [by four wickets].
Himmat Singh [207 runs in three games], Deepak Hooda [131 runs at 65.50] and Nitish Rana [101 runs at 50.50] have been the cornerstone for Indis’ success with the bat in the tournament thus far while Jayant Yadav [6 wickets] and Mayank Markande [7 wickets] has spun a web around the opposition batters.
While Markande [4-38] and Yadav [2-29] spun a web, Himmat Singh [59] and Nitish Rana [60] continued with their imperious form smoking eight sixes between them to help their side stroll past 177 set by Pakistan in the semi-finals.
Sri Lanka U23
Sri Lanka, too, has had a great campaign barring a blip against India in the group-stage match which they lost by four wickets. They breezed past Bangladesh U23 by four wickets thanks to all-rounder Kamindu Mendis’s 88-ball-91 and Chamika Karunaratne’s 4-31 and will look to take their form against India in the all-important final.
